Merzo Returns after Controversial Comments about EURO 2016
Back in 2016, the internet was set ablaze by comments made by French DJ and producer, Merzo after the EURO 2016 Finals. To briefly recap, he posted a short text post on his artist Facebook page, degrading the country of Portugal after they beat his home country of France. This caused quite a stir, causing his label, Armada Music, to publicly address his comments and ultimately parted ways from the artist, causing him to leave the industry altogether.
Three years later, Merzo has officially returned with his first label release on the US-based imprint, Loca Recordings. Merzo also gave an exclusive interview with The QR Network where he apologized again for his comments and talked about how he has changed over the past few years.
The song itself follows in the footsteps of Martin Garrix’s label, STMPD RCRDS and pushes a very forward-thinking bass house sound. So far there hasn’t been much public backlash to the release with comments on social media and streaming platforms remaining on the positive side of the spectrum. The song was even picked up by tastemaker YouTube channel, Future House Cloud. Everyone deserves a second chance and it seems that the French DJ is working hard to remedy his image and release high-quality music.
