COTTA Returns With Impressive New Single “Ghostin’”
Hailing from Australia, singer and songwriter COTTA has just unveiled her third single “Ghostin’” putting together an indie-pop anthem that is bound to help cement her place as one of the most exciting up-and-comers to watch. COTTA’s first two singles “Better” and “Didn’t Call” were released earlier this year and quickly received praise and radio spins from Triple J, while she is being described as “the lovechild of the late 1980s and Maggie Rogers.”
“Ghostin’” is a truly captivating song, filled with memorable and charismatic vocal lines on top of an energetic instrumental. It finds COTTA realise she is being led on by someone who doesn’t have her best interest in mind, and serves as a “f-you anthem to the ones that never deserved your time,” as she explains:
“The idea of ‘ghosting’ someone is ‘the practice of ending a personal relationship with someone by suddenly and without explanation withdrawing from all communication. ‘Ghostin’’ pays tribute to a particular time in my life, where I was strung along by someone with no intention of a follow-through, but who knew exactly what they were doing at the time, before they bailed. This song taps into the gut-wrenching, unexplainable frustration when you’re on the receiving end of being ghosted – even if it’s drawn out and maybe not immediate – and serves as an f-you anthem to the ones that never deserved your time anyway.”
