Julie Elody Releases Queen Of Wands (EP)
The newest project from Julie Elody dropped this week and every track is chill, yet danceable, with a pop / island feel. Consisting of 7 tracks, this EP is the perfect vibe for the summer.
Julie offers a behind-the-scenes look at the meaning of the project:
A friend of mine is an awesome tarot card reader. I remember the first reading she did for me all of the cards I had were upside down, which means they have a different meaning than when they are facing up. And all of the cards had something to do with balance (or lack thereof). Unlike some readers, my friend doesn’t believe the cards can tell the future or anything like that, but rather they help you put words to things that are going on in your life and emotions you were already feeling without realizing it. I remember that summer thinking that I had to focus on creating balance in my life. To me that meant to stop being a workaholic, to find my passion for music again, and to stop to take a breath every once in a while.
That was about a year ago. Ever since that first reading, every single reading has been wands, wands, wands. In tarot cards there are four suits; the wands are earth aligned. They represent creative potential, ideas and passion. The journey through the suit of wands is getting an idea and seeing it through to the end. As I was creating this EP, finding my balance, and learning to love music again instead of it being only another “job,” I kept finding myself journeying through the wands. A couple of weeks before the EP was finished, I finally got her in my reading: the queen. The queen is a strong character and she is a high card, so she has control over her potential unlike some of the earlier wands. She represents feminine fire, she’s passionate, and she has taken an idea, nurtured it and brought it to fruition. The queen of wands is not afraid to speak her mind. Because she has made the full journey through her creative process, she can inspire others creatively. She’s a powerful presence, someone you want on your side. She’s basically a badass.
When I saw that card I knew that’s what my EP meant to me. I finally have made my journey; I am finally happy with where I am in life and have accepted my purpose. I am the Queen of Wands.
